Ari Atoll
Swim with Gentle Giants in Pristine Waters
About Ari Atoll
Ari Atoll is one of the largest and most spectacular atolls in the Maldives, divided into North Ari Atoll (Alifu Alifu) and South Ari Atoll (Alifu Dhaalu). The atoll is world-famous for its year-round whale shark sightings, thanks to the South Ari Marine Protected Area — the only place in the Maldives where these gentle giants can be seen 365 days a year.
The atoll's western edge features some of the best dive sites in the country, including Maaya Thila, Fish Head, and Broken Rock. These sites are known for abundant marine life including grey reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles, and massive schools of fish. The atoll also boasts several manta ray cleaning stations, particularly on the eastern side.
Ari Atoll is home to some of the Maldives' most luxurious resorts including Conrad Maldives Rangali Island (famous for its underwater restaurant), Constance Moofushi, and W Maldives. Local islands like Dhangethi and Mahibadhoo offer authentic Maldivian experiences and budget-friendly accommodations.
